Sometimes the space you have to work with for an event presents limitations in bringing your client’s vision to life. Don’t let the quirks of a room or other conditions beyond your control hinder the creative process.

We recently faced the challenge of building a set for a ballroom that was super wide but not very deep. With the help of Darrin Contessa and ProMedia Productions, we layered the set combining lighting and projected images to create the illusion of more depth. Many surfaces became canvases painted with light for dramatic change overs, but the real scenic heroes were custom, dimensional logos from expanded polystyrene styrofoam (EPS).

Other key elements to achieve the desired look where: three screen surrounds, cycs, banners, furniture, a lectern, and ground rows to hide light fixtures. By tailoring design to the space you can maximize results and play to your strengths. At times, it’s our limitations that can be the inspiration we need to think outside the box.
